THE ORIGIN
The legend of its name goes this way. Once upon a time, there was an old man named “Pinong” who is very generous and kind. He has a house where everybody was welcome to stopover. The place was very far from the barrio, and because of this, he allotted his own home to be the resting spot to every passer-by. And from that time on, his house became the sanctuary of all the needy people in the place. Every passer-by took their rest in his house when they went down to the barrio. And anyone was welcome to stopover and rest there. He even served simple food and water to drink for them.
The people in the place were very stunned by his good heart so they decided to name the place “Pinayun-an”. It was named after his own forename; “Pinayun-an” comes from his first three letters Pin and yun-an means home, a modified term for “Pinuy-anan” which is also means home.
